Service Description

BASIC FREEDIVING The SSI Basic Freediving program is a single-day course that provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely participate in the recreational sport of freediving (breath-hold diving) in a confined water environment. This is a recognition course and can be upgraded to Pool/Level 1 Certification with the completion of pool/depth skill checks in a separate upgrade class. Who is this class for? Those who are looking to learn freediving and dive in Confined Water at a lower price point but does not include certification. Children ages 10-12 (Age 12 is the limit for Pool/Level 1 certifications). It includes two Confined water dive sessions, all necessary equipment, and a comprehensive eCourse. Why not 'Try Freediving'? Try freediving is a familiarization course that allows you to sample freediving equipment and skills in a single session and does not include a comprehensive eCourse. What you will need: * Swimsuit * Towel * Change of Clothes * Snacks * Water (Dehydration can prevent you from equalizing your ears) What we will bring: * Wetsuit * Mask & Snorkel * Freediving Fins Course Layout: Online Learning: The first step in your freediving journey will start with an online course through the MySSI App. This course will provide you with the information you need to join us in the classroom and the pool. Breathing/Stretching Session: The first practical exercise we will be doing is a dry land breathing session. This helps us understand relaxation, the final breath, the breath-hold, and the recovery breath. We also examine how our heart rate and blood oxygen levels respond to the breath-hold. Confined Water Sessions: Finally, we hit the water! We become familiar with our equipment, finning with our awesome fins, the breath-hold, and recovery. The first pool session is all about the 'warm and fuzzy' of freediving. The second pool session is taking the knowledge you have learned and putting it together in a practical application in what we call, Dynamic Dives, which are length-wise breath-hold dives in the pool. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age: 10 years old. Duration: 6-8 Hours. Depth Limitations: Maximum pool/confined water depth limit: 5 meters.
